Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Transportation Manager to oversee the design, development, and management of roadway infrastructure projects for a government agency in Florida. This role is ideal for a highly skilled transportation engineer with a strong background in roadway design, project management, and leadership within the public sector.
In this key leadership position, you will be responsible for managing complex roadway design projects from conception through implementation, ensuring that all designs are safe, cost-effective, and compliant with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) standards. You will lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive the successful execution of transportation projects aimed at enhancing public infrastructure.
As part of this role, a Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license is required within six months of hire. The Senior Transportation Manager will play a critical role in shaping the future of Florida's transportation network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage roadway design projects from initial concept through final design and construction, ensuring projects meet technical, budgetary, and timeline goals.
- Team Management: Oversee a team of engineers and support staff, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Interface with government agencies, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Technical Oversight: Ensure all roadway designs adhere to FDOT standards, state and local regulations, and best practices in civil and transportation engineering.
- Project Scheduling & Budgeting: Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Quality Control: Implement quality assurance and control processes to ensure design accuracy and safety. Review technical documents, plans, and specifications to maintain high standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and legal requirements, including federal, state, and local guidelines for transportation and roadway projects.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and present detailed technical reports, project updates, and presentations to government officials, stakeholders, and the public.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in transportation engineering and apply innovative solutions to improve the efficiency and sustainability of transportation systems.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: At least 7-10 years of experience in transportation or roadway design, with a strong emphasis on project management and leadership.
- PE License: Must be eligible to obtain a Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license within 6 months of hire. Candidates currently holding a Florida PE license are highly preferred.
- Leadership Experience: Proven experience managing and mentoring engineering teams, coordinating cross-disciplinary teams, and leading complex, multi-phase projects.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in roadway design, traffic engineering, and transportation planning. Proficient in industry-standard software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, etc.) and transportation modeling tools.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of FDOT and local governmental standards, processes, and regulations.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to tackle complex engineering challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Florida PE License: Preference for candidates who already hold a Florida PE license.
- Experience in Government Projects: Prior experience working on public-sector projects, particularly with state or local government transportation agencies, is a plus.
- Advanced Engineering Degrees: A Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
