UPS Field Service Engineer

Location: Seattle, WA

Salaries range from $90K–$120K plus 401(k), Health Insurance, Vacation, PTO, and Bonus scheme.

 

Our Client:

A leading critical power service provider supporting data centers, hospitals, and telecom networks across the Pacific Northwest. They specialize in maintaining and commissioning UPS, battery, and power distribution systems that keep mission-critical operations online 24/7.

 

Key Responsibilities:

•  Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on UPS systems (single-phase and three-phase), ranging from 10kVA rack units to 500kVA+ enterprise setups.
•  Inspect, test, and replace VRLA, wet cell, and lithium battery strings; perform impedance and load testing using Alber, Midtronics, or similar equipment.
•  Execute start-ups, commissioning, and acceptance testing on new UPS and switchgear installations.
•  Conduct infrared scans, torque checks, and DC voltage readings to confirm system health and prevent failures.
•  Support AC/DC power distribution systems, transfer switches (STS/ATS), rectifiers, and inverters as required.
•  Interface with customers, project managers, and OEM technical support; produce detailed service reports and recommendations.

 

The successful candidate must have/show:

•  3–5 years of field experience with UPS systems, DC power plants, or battery systems.
•  Proficiency with OEMs such as Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, APC/Schneider, Mitsubishi, or Toshiba.
•  Knowledge of NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, and safe high-voltage work practices.
•  Skilled in using oscilloscopes, clamp meters, and battery test sets—comfortable identifying correct float voltages.
•  Ability to interpret single-line diagrams and wiring schematics.
•  Clean driving record and flexibility to travel within the Seattle metro and nearby areas.
•  Prior experience in military power systems, telecom DC, or data center environments is a plus.
